If the viscosity is 20 cSt or less, no correction to the clear water curve is considered. Beyond this range, it is necessary to refer to the performance correction table to apply corrections to head, flow rate, and efficiency.
For transporting hydraulic oil, gear pumps or screw pumps are the best choices. Centrifugal pumps are very sensitive to the viscosity of the fluid, and this sensitivity leads to significant variations in performance; they are generally used for transporting fluids similar to water, such as gasoline and diesel. Therefore, it is recommended to switch to a different type of pump. If a centrifugal pump must be used, the theoretical formulas are not accurate, so actual testing under real operating conditions is necessary. In contrast, gear pumps or screw pumps can provide precise values for flow rate and pressure, with little deviation from the actual values, making them highly suitable for this purpose
If accuracy and stability are required, it is recommended to use a metering pump, as it can meet such requirements
