RT, I’d like to know the volume ratio between the tube side and the shell side of different types of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. In other words, what proportion of the total volume inside the shell is occupied by the tube side and what proportion by the shell side? Is there a rough figure?

There shouldn’t be one of these; the break points should be longer, and the number of tubes should vary a bit. There shouldn’t be such a ratio

However, not all these parameters are usually provided in the equipment table (along with tube-side quality and shell-side quality); such parameters are related to dynamic response, for example, they are involved in adjustment curves for temperature control and similar aspects. It can generally be estimated based on the heat exchange area; the instruction documents for dynamic process simulation software usually provide approximate estimation methods. You can also do a rough calculation by yourself.
I want to calculate the mass of the medium on the shell side. It doesn’t seem complicated; I thought there would be some relevant instructions.
