For large-scale pump systems and centrifugal pumps, some are lubricated using oil cups, while others rely on a lubrication pump to supply lubricant under pressure. How should one choose between these options? In other words, which types of pumps require lubrication via a pressure-fed lubrication pump, and which ones can be lubricated using oil cups?
Are centrifugal pumps equipped with oil pumps to supply oil for lubrication? ? ? What a huge power level that must be! Haven’t seen it.
Are the bearing housings of centrifugal pumps all lubricated with oil cups? Is the fluid circulated by the oil pump used for flushing the mechanical seal?

For centrifugal pumps, if sliding bearings are used, a lubrication pump is necessary to provide pressurized lubrication (with an oil supply pressure of around 2 bar g); whereas if rolling bearings are used, sump lubrication is employed, which is manifested externally as cup lubrication. As for when to use sliding bearings and when not to, refer to Table 10 in API 610, Edition 11.
It depends on the size of the pump; generally, oil cups or oil mist are used for lubrication. For larger units, a separate lubricating oil station is installed, with a high-level oil tank provided when necessary
