Hello, everyone! Could any experts explain the process of producing hydrogen from residue oil? The main process flow, the cost of hydrogen production/M3, and the challenges in operation. . .
Hydrogen production from residue oil? ? I’m hearing this for the first time: residual oil has a high sulfur content, which places a heavy burden on the hydrodesulfurization process. Is it similar to hydrogen production from coal, where CO and hydrogen are generated first, followed by desulfurization before entering the temperature-controlled reactor? ?

The sludge gasification processes mainly include those developed by Shell and Texaco; both of these companies have now been acquired by AP, resulting in a single entity. The entire process consists of gasification + low-temperature methanol washing + shift reaction; purification can be carried out using PSA or methanation thereafter. The difficulty in operation lies in long-term operation.

To produce hydrogen, one uses a gasification furnace; subsequent steps include conversion, low-temperature methanol washing for desulfurization and decarbonization, methanation, and PSA purification. The challenge lies in the fact that the gasification furnace needs to be shut down every 7 to 8 days and cannot operate continuously.
