Dear experts, our factory’s heating furnace has been in operation for 8 years; the material of its furnace tubes is P9. Apart from regular thickness measurements during major overhauls, no other inspections have been carried out. I would like to ask whether it is necessary to conduct other types of inspections after such a long period of use, such as metallographic analysis, and whether there are any relevant industry standards for this.

Measure thickness to check for corrosion and erosion; determine whether the wall thickness has decreased
Ultrasonic testing of base material, ultrasonic testing of welds, PT testing of welds, oxidation layer thickness testing, ferrite content testing at welds, metallographic testing, hardness testing, creep testing, thickness testing, macroscopic inspection, etc. Especially over a long period of operation, the pearlescent bodies tend to spheroidize.
