Generally, in the production of alcohols, the CO content in the feed gas is adjusted by changing the conversion rate of CO in the shift reaction, or by creating a shortcut between the inlet and outlet of the shift reactor, in order to maintain the alcohol-to-ammonia ratio within a certain range.
