Why can’t carbon black exhaust be released through a chimney? Are there regulatory requirements?
Carbon black exhaust is a by-product of the incomplete combustion and pyrolysis of aromatic-rich oils in the carbon black production process, and its composition is relatively complex. During the transportation of carbon black, a large amount of quenching water is sprayed in for cooling purposes, as required by the manufacturing process; as a result, the carbon black exhaust gas contains high levels of water vapor, little combustible material, and very low calorific value. Carbon black exhaust contains high levels of moisture, has a high ignition point, and is prone to explosive combustion; therefore, its thermal energy and calorific value should generally be recovered before it is released to prevent air pollution
On the one hand, there are environmental protection requirements; on the other hand, there are economic considerations as well as the need for energy reuse. Going forward, environmental pressures will increase, and many small carbon black manufacturers may have to shut down. Foreign-owned carbon black factories installed flue gas desulfurization and denitration systems ten years ago.
