According to a report by CCTV News on April 17, nearly 500 students at Changzhou Foreign Language School in Jiangsu were found to have abnormal blood test results and low white blood cell counts; some of the students were diagnosed with malignant diseases such as lymphoma and leukemia. The suspected culprit is an old chemical plant site located to the north of the school. Environmental testing results showed that the concentrations of chlorobenzene in the groundwater and soil of this site exceeded the limits by 94,799 times and 78,899 times respectively.
