As industrial screw refrigerators, they come in normal temperature, medium temperature, and low temperature versions – what are the differences between them? For low-temperature models, with the same cooling capacity in terms of kilocalories, the motor power is higher – what is the reason for this? I’ll talk about some things that I know myself. The temperature of normal-temperature chiller units is generally controlled within the range of 0°C to 35°C, while the temperature of low-temperature chiller units is usually controlled around 0°C to -100°C ; In normal-temperature chillers, the refrigerant is water, while in low-temperature chillers, the refrigerant can be ethylene glycol water solutions, alcohol, ternary mixtures of alcohols, cryogenic refrigerants, or saltwater solutions with specially formulated components. For chillers, the lower the temperature, the greater the difficulty of operation and the lower their efficiency; therefore, it is normal to see a significant difference in power consumption between two chillers that deliver the same cooling capacity, as the temperature at the cooling output varies. Additionally, the lubricants used and the oil separation systems in normal-temperature and low-temperature chillers differ as well, with some low-temperature chillers requiring secondary oil separation. Some units designed for normal temperatures can be used as low-temperature units by simply setting the outlet temperature lower; however, if the outlet temperature is too low, the machine will not function.
