Issue with the installation location of the on-site temperature gauge

For a DN40 pipeline carrying liquid materials, how should its temperature be measured? Is 20 units of insertion depth for a bimetallic thermometer not too little? The precision isn’t good enough, I guess. Can a bimetallic thermometer be inserted at a elbow?
For temperature installation, diameter expansion is required; the old standards specified an expansion of 80, while the new standards require 100. The insertion depth is then (50 + interface length). .
Here, I use an expanded tube of 80 for values not exceeding 25

Check the specifications; 20 units of insertion depth is too little.
Add a temperature expansion tube to locally enlarge the pipe to DN100 or DN80; refer to Appendix B of the Specifications for the Installation and Design of Instrumentation in the Petrochemical Industry. You’d better check which appendix it is
