Previously, the issues encountered in the electrodeposition unit were always related to excessive current levels, and efforts were focused on finding ways to reduce it. But now we’re facing the opposite problem: the electrodeposition current is too low. What could be the reason? Normal or abnormal? How should this be solved? The specific details are as follows: Operating conditions: secondary electrodeposition; operating temperature: 120–140°C; pressure: 1.0–1.1 MPa; voltage: 19 KV; water injection volume: 5–8% of the feed volume; mixing valve opening degree: 65%; crude oil density (at 20°C): 0.83. The demulsifier is injected normally. Current status: Salt content in crude oil before desalination is 32, while it is 21 after desalination; the water content after desalination is negligible. Current: 6.5A at level 1 and 7.2A at level 2, which is far below the current required for normal operation; as a result, the electrodialysis efficiency is poor and the desalination rate is too low. The amount of demulsifier can be increased slightly to see if there is an upward trend! It’s simply about raising the liquid level appropriately to increase the oil-water separation time! Increase the temperature appropriately to improve the oil-water separation effect.
