Due to severe scaling and corrosion on the trays and tower walls of our plant’s condensate stripping tower, this condition significantly affected the tower’s processing capacity. The deaerated condensate after steam stripping was sent to the evaporation hot water tower. I am considering whether it is possible to prevent scaling and corrosion inside the tower by adding alkali. I hope Haiyou can provide advice on whether it is feasible, how to implement it specifically, or the reasons why it cannot be implemented
If the amount of condensate is large and it returns to the deaerator or demineralization station, it is recommended not to add alkali; If the amount of condensate is small and it returns to the circulation tank, alkali can be added
This is my hot water tower for degassing and evaporating the condensate after steam stripping.
It doesn’t seem to make much sense; it is water vapor that causes scaling. If you use too little, it won’t have any effect, while using too much is just a waste
The quality of the water vapor should be fine, right?
I’m not sure what type of stripping tower you have, but if the temperature difference and flow rate are similar, you might consider installing a waste heat exchanger for use in staff bathing; If it is very large, options such as waste heat recovery for power generation can be considered
Has it been tested? Since there’s an intention to add alkali, it’s necessary to have the relevant data
It’s basically difficult to achieve complete control; one also has to take into account the subsequent system equipment and processes, which makes things less efficient
