The cross-strait cooperation in refining and petrochemical integration projects and the development of **-level petrochemical parks – You are invited to attend the Asia Petrochemical Integration Seminar. Investing in the construction of high-quality petrochemical projects, producing high-grade refined oil products as well as mid-to-high-end chemical products that meet market demands, and promoting industrial upgrading are all important aspects of the \"supply-side reform\" in the petroleum and chemical industry. “During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the **National Development and Reform Commission will focus on planning the development of seven major petrochemical industry bases: Dalian Changxing Island (Xizhong Island), Cao Feidian in Hebei, Lianyungang in Jiangsu, Caojing in Shanghai, Ningbo in Zhejiang, Gulei in Fujian, and Huizhou in Guangdong. Data from Yaha Consulting show that the planned area of the Fujian Gulei Petrochemical Base is approximately 116.68 square kilometers, of which 74.38 square kilometers are land area and 42.3 square kilometers are sea area. Developed in phases; the current refining capacity is 30 million tons per year, the ethylene production capacity is 3.5 million tons per year, and the scale of the aromatic compounds complex is 800,000 tons per year (based on p-xylene) ； The long-term refining capacity will reach 50 million tons per year, the ethylene production capacity will reach 5 million tons per year, and the scale of the aromatic compounds complex will be 4.1 million tons per year (based on p-xylene). In March 2013, the **National Development and Reform Commission officially approved cooperation between Sinopec Group and Taiwan’s petrochemical industry to carry out preliminary work on the Gulei integrated refining and chemical project in Zhangzhou, Fujian. The project includes the construction of facilities for processing 16 million tons of crude oil per year, producing 1.2 million tons of ethylene per year, as well as for downstream processing. In December 2015, the construction of the Gulei integrated refining and chemical project in Zhangzhou, Fujian, began. The first phase of this project involved an investment of 35.5 billion yuan to build facilities for producing million-ton quantities of ethylene as well as for its further processing; it was expected that some of these facilities would be completed and put into operation by 2018. The First China Petrochemical Integration Symposium, organized by Yaha Consulting, will be held on June 15-16, 2016, in Xiamen and the Gulei Petrochemical Park. Leaders and experts from the Gulei Economic Development Zone and the Gulei refining and chemical integration project will deliver keynote speeches: Cooperation on refining and chemical integration projects across the Taiwan Strait and the development of **-level petrochemical parks. A visit to the Gulei Industrial Park will be arranged during the conference.
