Regarding standard specifications

When working on engineering projects, various standards are often used, including those related to chemistry, construction, HVAC, food processing, and safety. Currently, one basically has to search online for whatever is needed, which is inefficient; more often than not, it’s unclear what standards can be referred to for a particular task. Frequently, people on the forum post requests for help regarding various types of standards, which raises the question: are there any comprehensive collections of standards organized by industry category that can be downloaded or purchased for study? If it’s only in print format, the high cost is one issue, and it’s also very inconvenient to carry around on business trips. Of course, I don’t have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, so my perspective is likely limited. I welcome guidance from professionals who can help us laymen improve our efficiency by showing us the way.

Each design institute (engineering company) usually has a design management department (or technical management department), one of whose responsibilities is to regularly update standards and specifications in line with the institute’s areas of expertise, and to publish these updates on the company’s internal OA system so that professionals can stay informed at all times. This is a continuous and dynamic task that relies on individuals to establish a database of standards; it involves professionalism and timeliness, and can sometimes seem like something out of reach.
Thank you for your reply. From personal experience, sometimes leaders will take a book from 20 years ago and say: You can find information on such and such thing in it. So, personally, I feel that the timeliness requirement for most of the content isn’t that strict; perhaps only some of it will be updated after a few years. If there are so-called industry associations, someone should be doing this foundational work to improve the overall level of the industry. Now books can be sold in electronic form, so standards should also be possible to establish; moreover, the internet itself offers so many free resources.
I haven’t heard that the standard specification database for that organization is maintained through individuals and the internet. At least system management does not allow it either.
The requirements for companies are not high, and individual requirements are modest as well; one can simply put in some effort to gather the information. Professional guidelines are included when buying books for registered exams. There are also building-related standards for sale on Taobao, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for.
