The lean liquid from our sulfur unit has been failing to meet the required standards recently. The concentration of the lean liquid appears to be normal, and the solvent regeneration tower is operating smoothly. We have increased the steam flow at the bottom of the tower as well as the air output to prevent pressure buildup in the solvent tower; however, we noticed that the flow rates shown on the DCS are fluctuating up and down in a sawtooth pattern. Could this be related to the issue with the liquid not meeting the standards?
The steam volume is too high; increase the evaporation rate. What should be done.
Is it the fluctuation in the flow rate of the lean liquid coming from the bottom of the tower? Does the lean liquid flow first to the heat exchanger and then to the pump after coming out of the bottom of the tower? Does the unit have an amine liquid purification and rich liquid filter?
Check whether there is internal leakage in the rich-lean fluid heat exchanger, and conduct a quality analysis of the rich-lean fluid at the inlet and outlet of this heat exchanger.
Set the flow rate of the lean liquid to manual mode and check whether there are still serrated fluctuations, in order to rule out any issues with the instruments.
How is the flashing effect? It can’t be oily, right?
Fluctuations are not the key; what matters is whether the lean liquid meets the standards after increasing the steam volume Which flow fluctuation is it? Is it the reflux flow at the top of the regenerator? ?
