It is basically based on hardware from embedded computers – some of it uses hardware from brands such as Advantech and Moxa. It supports two types of physical interfaces: serial ports and Ethernet ports. The technical complexity seems not very high, which is why there are many such products available. Domestic gateways perform well when it comes to supporting various types of instruments, but they are less capable in terms of supporting fieldbuses
