Main cable of the junction box

Dear seniors: For the main cable that comes out of the junction box to connect to the instruments, how many pairs do you usually choose? Are 8, 12, 16, 24, 36 used frequently?
The branch cable should not be too long, as determined by the number of instrument points and the amount of redundancy available.
We use 16 for our interactions; it’s better to handle each situation on its own
Depending on the specific operating conditions, a backup should be reserved
Choose this based on the specific circumstances. But if it’s several pairs, it’s better to skip the junction box.
The wiring box for instruments usually has 36 terminals, and a 12-core multi-core cable is used. It is recommended to use a multi-core cable with enough cores to match the number of terminals in the wiring box, leaving at least 2 spare terminals
