The feed water pump for the scrubber tower is a multi-stage centrifugal pump; the mechanical seals at both the inlet and outlet of the pump are fed with the same fluid – deionized water. Since the pressure at the pump’s outlet is high, how is the deionized water kept sealed?

Although the pressure of the medium is high after the pump pressurizes it, the pressure at the pump’s sealing points does not become extremely high; this depends on the sealing design. You can refer to mechanical engineering books related to pumps for more information.
What is the relationship between the mechanical seal pressure and the balance tube? Isn’t the balance tube used to reduce shaft stress?
