What does DCS redundancy point mean?

By DCS redundancy points, does it refer to only IO card redundancy, or is redundancy required from the field transmitters to the safety barrier, to the IO cards, and then to the controller?
:L generally refers to IO card redundancy. If the IO cards are redundant, then the controller must also be redundant. Because the controller is like the brain, and the IO cards are like the limbs.
I understand there are two meanings: one is card redundancy, where one signal is sent to two redundant cards; the other is signal redundancy, such as with two transmitters. The former is implemented at the hardware level, while the latter requires voting to be carried out in software
DCS redundancy generally refers to I/O point redundancy; field instruments and safety barriers do not require redundancy. If both field instruments and safety barriers are made redundant, then a choice between them is necessary, which involves logical decision-making – and that is no longer considered ordinary DCS redundancy.
