I would like to ask the experts: why are steam turbines commonly used as the hydrogen circulation pumps in hydrogenation units?
The device recycles steam, thereby saving energy and reducing consumption
Without considering the overall steam balance in the plant or the comprehensive utilization of excess steam, and focusing solely on electricity and steam consumption, which results in lower energy consumption?
It depends on the circumstances. In some cases, the steam output is low; it wouldn’t be reasonable to use steam for driving processes in such situations. On the other hand, if the plant has an excess capacity for steam production, it will be wasted if not utilized. This isn’t just a matter of energy consumption – the overall energy usage of the entire plant needs to be taken into consideration
