I’m currently in the preliminary selection phase, and I’m a bit confused regarding the installation of pressure transmitters. 1. It is to be installed on process pipelines; the medium is toxic and flammable, operating under normal temperature and pressure – should threaded connection or flange connection be used? If a threaded connection is used, how is it generally installed? If flange connection is used, how is it generally installed? 2. It is installed on the equipment, with a DN20 flange as the interface; what type of root valve is generally used? Can a pressure transmitter be installed directly behind the root valve?
1. Threaded connections and flanged connections have nothing to do with whether the medium is flammable or explosive. The main difference between threaded and flanged connections lies in whether the medium is corrosive; if it is corrosive, a flanged connection should be used. The materials used for the diaphragm and the parts in contact with the medium must be those that are not susceptible to corrosion by the medium. For threaded connections, it consists of a pressure transfer pipe + root valve + pressure gauge; for flanged connections, it is a flange + root valve + pressure gauge. The same applies to transmitters. 2. For DN20 flanged connections, the medium to be handled is a key consideration: for high-temperature media, high-temperature ball valves are used as the root valve; for corrosive media, lined ball valves or valves made of other non-corrosive materials are chosen. For ordinary, non-corrosive media, needle valves or globe valves can also be used, but since it is a flanged connection, ball valves are the preferred choice. The transmitter can be connected directly behind the root valve (that’s how it’s installed; if you’re not connecting it directly to the transmitter, then what else do you want to connect it to?) )
