In a diesel hydrogenation unit, when the circulating hydrogen compressor stops operating and the emergency pressure relief valve opens, why does the amine-poor liquid pump in the desulfurization system also stop operating as a result of this interlock?

The lean liquid pump is a high-pressure pump; with your pressure relief valves open, what will happen if the pressure from the high-pressure pump flows back to the high-pressure section?

After pressure relief, the pressure of the high-pressure pump can cause shock to the internals of the tower.
