Our company uses Metso’s DCS system. Each PIC communication card is equipped with 16 IO cards, and 14 PIC cards make up one station. The PIC cards are connected to each other via coaxial cables, with a single coaxial cable linking all 14 PIC cards together. It’s similar to the Profibus connection method. Here are my questions: 1. What kind of signals are transmitted over coaxial cables? Are they digital or analog? 2. Does this communication method fall under the category of bus systems? Terminal devices also require terminal resistors for connection. 3. How should the coaxial cable be connected to the circuits within the cards? In other words, how are signals received and sent through coaxial cables? My knowledge in this area is very limited; I’ve spent a lot of time searching on Baidu but still haven’t understood it. I would be extremely grateful if someone could explain this to me :)
