An update from the air separation industry, 20160525: Hangyang’s krypton and xenon purification unit project wins an award

Run ahead~~Hangzhou Oxygen – the process of local production of air separation units is progressing steadily~~ :lol The krrypton and xenon extraction unit developed by Hangzhou Oxygen won an award. Recently, at the ceremony honoring the \"2015 Zhejiang Machinery Industry Science and Technology Awards\" held by the Zhejiang Machinery Industry Federation, the krrypton and xenon extraction unit developed by Hangzhou Oxygen was awarded first prize. During the development of this project, Hangyang independently created a database of the physical properties of krypton and xenon as well as a process simulation technology platform. It also developed key technologies such as a full-distillation process for the extraction of krypton and xenon, high-temperature catalysis, medium-pressure purification, and low-temperature distillation. For the crude krypton column, krypton-xenon separation column, pure krypton column, fluorine removal column, and pure xenon column, new types of efficient mesh packing columns were used for the first time, enabling the installation to operate with low energy consumption and high extraction efficiency. An innovative process for recovering the cooling capacity of liquid oxygen was developed, allowing the vaporization of liquid oxygen and the liquefaction of nitrogen to produce liquid nitrogen and oxygen, thereby maximizing the economic benefits of krypton and xenon extraction. Additionally, a skid-mounted assembly method was developed, which facilitates rapid on-site installation and ensures the quality of the krypton and xenon extraction equipment. In 2015, this project was selected as one of the first-of-its-kind products in the key areas of Zhejiang Province’s equipment manufacturing industry. The technical achievements resulting from it filled the gap in domestic capabilities related to pure krypton and xenon extraction technology, breaking the monopoly held by foreign air separation companies and further enhancing the company’s competitive strength.
