I would like to ask everyone for advice: I want to use P204 to extract nickel, with a nickel concentration of around 50–60 g/l. What is the maximum concentration of P204 that can be used in industrial applications? And it can ensure extraction efficiency; thank you all for your help.
Have you considered the production costs when using P204 to extract nickel at such a high concentration? It’s completely not a cost-effective approach. The general configuration can reach up to 30%
Why is a high concentration not as good as simply removing impurities?
The main goal is to produce refined nickel sulfate, and this involves issues related to calcium, magnesium, and sodium. During the leaching and dissolution process, the concentration of sulfuric acid is quite high, reaching 50 g/l; it’s difficult to choose an appropriate neutralizing agent. Calcium oxide was used, which resulted in extensive crystallization within the pipes and pipe blockages. Sodium hydroxide was considered as an alternative, but refined nickel sulfate requires very low levels of sodium. Therefore, a method of complete nickel extraction is being explored
I can only say that there’s an issue with your manufacturing process; it needs to be chosen again.
Teacher Zheng, do you have any good suggestions or methods? We considered using 272 for impurity removal, but this extractant is too expensive……

Too high levels of calcium and magnesium also make extraction difficult, and the extractor will experience severe crystallization. Generally, nickel leach solutions should not have a high final acidity, unless you also intend to recover other valuable metals alongside it. Otherwise, the process must be changed
