May I ask which design institute in China is capable of designing processes for producing ethylene glycol using natural gas as a raw material? (The project is located in Africa and has a capacity equivalent to two units of 600,000 tons each, meaning 1.2 million tons of methanol.) Thank you
I can’t quite understand your question – what does it have to do with methanol? If NG is used for gas production and the syngas is then used to produce ethylene glycol, there are numerous design institutes specialized in gas production/purification/separation processes. Institutes that have experience in designing coal chemical plants, fertilizer plants, methanol plants, etc., can handle this task, as well as several large research institutes under the Ministry of Chemical Industry. As for the syngas produced after separation, which is used to manufacture ethylene glycol, the patent holders include Gao Chemical, Danhua Technology, Shanghai Pujing, Shanghai Huayi, etc., and they have established design institutes for collaboration. If the route uses natural gas → methanol → ethylene → ethylene glycol, it is the so-called MTO pathway, and there are many design institutes for this, such as Luoyang Institute, Shanghai Medical Engineering Institute, Huisheng Engineering, etc. The actual production capacity per unit plant for producing MEG from syngas is quite low, at 50,000 to 75,000 tons per year per plant, whereas the capacity per unit plant using the ethylene method can reach 750,000 to 800,000 tons per year. The investment required for the syngas method is much higher than that for the ethylene method.
Thank you to techieboy for the information; this project is in Africa and involves two units of ethylene glycol, each with a capacity of 600,000 tons. Since the identity of the owner is not clear, the capacity specification was omitted.
Autothermal conversion, air separation, Ruchi synthesis. Linde or Hangyang gas separation, natural gas gas turbine thermodynamics, High Chemical or Shanghai Xuzheng ethylene glycol. It can be done by the major chemical engineering design institutes in the country. Flue gas carbon dioxide recovery may be used to establish a mass balance.
