When the company prepares PH buffer solutions (solutions of disodium hydrogen phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate, 1 ton), to ensure uniform mixing of the solution, a steel pipe is usually placed at the bottom of the tank, and air is blown through it to create bubbles, in an effort to achieve a more homogeneous solution. The duration is about 2 hours. But I think carbon dioxide in the air can affect the quality and pH of the buffer, though it’s not clear how significant the impact is. Do any experienced friends have a clear conclusion to share?
When carbon dioxide dissolves in water, it gives a weakly acidic effect; if too much carbon dioxide is dissolved in a buffer with a pH of 7, the pH value will change. But one ton of buffer solution is roughly one cubic meter in volume; mechanical stirring or manual stirring should work just fine, so why use air flow for stirring?
It is prepared directly using ton containers during production; the containers are too full, and mixing them directly can easily cause overflow, so it’s necessary to stir them slowly while introducing air flow~ Thank you for your reply~

No one wants to do more work; since there have been no quality issues in the past, let’s keep things as they are. I haven’t been working here for long, but seeing the operators do it raised questions in my mind; I wanted to find an opportunity to make improvements, although there were no issues with the product quality. In this situation, it is quite difficult to persuade them to change their procedures~

I just want to find a reason that will convince others~ *The procedures that have been in use for a long time aren’t easy to change, especially when it’s just a new technician.
