Everyone knows that water needs to be added during hydrogenation, but why is there continuous water injection and intermittent water injection? ? ? What is the purpose of intermittent water injection, and what are its benefits?
Water injection is carried out to prevent an increase in the system pressure drop due to the crystallization of ammonium salts in low-temperature areas; continuous water injection is installed at the inlet end of the high-pressure air cooler. Intermittent water injection is generally installed at the inlet of the high-pressure heat exchanger to prevent the high-pressure heat exchanger from being clogged by ammonium chloride crystals due to prolonged operation; the crystallization temperature of ammonium chloride is around 200°C.
Here, water is injected continuously during diesel hydrogenation, while intermittent water injection is used for gasoline hydrogenation.
Intermittent water injection should refer to the line before the air cooler; regular injection is needed to prevent ammonium salt crystals from causing blockages in the air cooler

Pre-cooling water injection, which is continuous, is mainly intended to wash away NH4HS in the backside pipelines; intermittent water injection refers to water injection at the heat exchange sites, primarily to prevent the accumulation of NH4CL from blocking the heat exchanger tubes.
Personally, I think the injection is done to wash away ammonium salts; continuous injection is used in areas with high levels of ammonium salts, while intermittent injection is used in areas with low levels. In our case, continuous water injection is used for diesel hydrogenation, while intermittent water injection is used for gasoline hydrogenation. There are also differences in the location of the injection points: for gasoline, it is before the air cooler, while for diesel, it is before the heat exchanger. Initially, we injected diesel in intermittent bursts, but as the system pressure dropped, we switched to continuous injection. Because it is also related to the properties of the raw materials.
