Smooth car paint often develops scratches unintentionally, and owners don’t have to go to a car detailing shop for waxing to fix them; using toothpaste to polish off minor scratches yields good results. First, wash the scratched area with clean water. Then take a clean cloth or towel, apply a little toothpaste to it, and gently rub the scratched area repeatedly. Once the scratches have disappeared or faded, wipe it dry with a wet wipe. The reason is simple: toothpaste is itself a abrasive used for cleaning teeth; it does no harm to the human body nor to the paint. 2. Using transparent soap to care for leather seats Leather seats are vulnerable to scratches from hard objects, and even more so to the damage caused by chemical cleaners. The Talmud uses a transparent soap with very low corrosiveness; it not only removes dirt effectively but also leaves the leather surface soft and shiny after drying. The specific method is to soak a clean, soft towel in warm water, apply an appropriate amount of soap evenly on the towel, and then gently wipe the seat. At this point, if the towel gets dirty, it proves that the cleaning has been effective. After wiping with soap, ventilate the area and let it dry; then wipe it twice with a damp towel that no longer contains soap. This method removes stains, leaving the leather surface clean, fluffy, and fresh as ever. This method also applies to plastic parts in door interiors and on the dashboard. The reason is that soap has a strong cleaning power, does not irritate human skin, and is more suitable for use on genuine leather items. 3. Using talcum powder to resolve sticking of door seals: After rain, the car’s door seals become damp and stick to the paint surface, making it difficult to open the doors accompanied by a squeaking sound. Applying a little talcum powder to the rubber seals on the inside of the door will eliminate the problem, allowing the door to open and close smoothly without any noise. 4. Use peppermint oil to remove stickers The various certificates stuck on the car’s windshield for annual inspections are very difficult to remove. Apply peppermint oil to the back of the sticker; after it soaks in for a moment, wipe it off firmly with a dry cloth, and no trace will remain. This method is applicable to adhesive labels attached to various products. The reason is that peppermint oil can dissolve the active ingredients of adhesive stickers. If there is no peppermint oil, toothpaste can be used as a substitute, though the effect will be slightly weaker.
