Generally, the vapor from the top of the distillation tower should be free of hydrogen sulfide, as the stripping tower is capable of removing it completely. If there is concern, the vapor from the top of the distillation tower can be washed with an alkali before being sent to the gas distribution network.
It is usually a twin-tower setup: T1 contains high levels of sulfur in its acidic gases, while T2 contains almost no sulfur. Natural gas is generally used as the gas seal, and it is sent to the furnace; each has its own burner.
We use stripping hydrogen at the bottom of our distillation tower; as a result, hydrogen accounts for about 60% of the gas phase at the top of the distillation tower. We send this gas phase from the top of the distillation tower to the reforming unit, where the hydrogen is recovered and reused!
