Shutdown and purging of the wastewater stripping reboiler

I read in the documentation that during steam purging when the stripping operation is stopped, since a closed loop is formed between the reboiler and the tower, it is necessary to break this connection for purging. What is vent purging? Please, experts, give your opinion. Thank you
This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2016-6-16 at 22:39. In the wastewater stripping tower, the main steam used for vaporization comes from direct steam injection into the tower. However, since the reboiler is located below the bottom of the tower, there may be liquid with lower quality accumulated during shutdowns, as well as condensate in the vaporization section. Therefore, our approach is to supply some steam to the reboiler as well during vaporization, so that the liquid phase inside the reboiler can be reboiled and no condensate will accumulate.
What Lao Yu said upstairs is absolutely correct. I’ve also seen situations where the vent on the shell side of the reboiler was set to a slightly open position, while steam was injected at the bottom of the tower to purge any droplets
