After the insulation layer of the diesel tank is removed, how can one calculate the time it takes for the diesel inside the tank to drop from 35°C to 10°C? What type of heat transfer occurs between the diesel and the tank walls, and what type of heat transfer occurs between the tank walls and the external environment? What formula should be used to calculate it?
Using the normal heat transfer formula, with the thermal conductivity of the tank known
Heat conduction between the oil and the tank wall, and convective heat transfer between the pipe wall and the atmosphere. I remember there’s a thermodynamic calculation for heat transfer through a cylinder wall that one could look at.
Heat transfer occurs by convection between the oil and the tank wall; heat conduction takes place from the inner side to the outer side of the tube wall; and heat transfer by convection occurs between the tank wall and the atmosphere.
The oil stored in the tank should be calculated on a static basis, that is, with no flow of the oil
