Currently, no unified regulations on medium codes have been found in ** or industry standards. However, within the industry, each design institute has its own set of regulations regarding traditional process medium codes. For example, on Baidu Wenku, one can find the internal document titled “05BG024-2005 Regulations on Codes for Equipment, Valves, and Media in Petrochemical Project Engineering” issued by Sinopec Luoyang Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. In this document, circulating cooling feed water is denoted as CWS – cooling water supply; circulating cooling return water is denoted as CWR – cooling water return; and fire water is denoted as FW – fire water. It is recommended that the person asking the question review the drawings at hand more carefully. In the drawings related to the environmental engineering or water supply and drainage fields for each section, there should be a “Construction Drawing Instructions” or “Project Description” document, which contains written explanations of the design requirements for that section, including descriptions of the media codes. If it is a process pipeline, please refer to the first few pages of the PID diagram (Process Pipeline Instrumentation Diagram) in the design drawings you have received; these pages contain the diagram legends including the medium codes.
