There are very few discussions on the forum regarding the use of pyrolysis-gasification technology for treating solid hazardous waste; I was wondering if anyone who is knowledgeable in this area could offer some guidance. Typically, pyrolysis gasification furnaces are equipped with 3 of these units to ensure continuous operation of the equipment; in this case, the time during which solid waste within the furnace is pyrolyzed to generate flue gases must be at least 8 hours, otherwise the temperature in the secondary combustion chamber may drop below the required 1100°C level. If the time is too long, it will involve issues related to processing volume and costs. This involves the issue of combining solid wastes before they are fed into the furnace; firstly, to ensure stability in their calorific value, and secondly, to ensure that exhaust emissions meet regulatory standards. The pyrolysis time is a parameter that is difficult to control, and it is also challenging to determine the volatiles content of solid wastes solely through testing. Judging from the level of technological maturity, the mature pyrolysis furnaces available abroad are definitely much better than those used in rotary kilns. As for the pyrolysis furnaces in China, to be honest, the technology is still in the stage of imitation and exploration; people have to serve as test subjects. I work with vertical rotary pyrolysis gasification furnaces; if there’s a chance, we can communicate and exchange ideas with each other. Ours is mainly used for the disposal of medical waste, but it is also employed in the treatment of hazardous waste. Additionally, by adding plasma to this pyrolysis gasification furnace, the slag produced is in a glassy state and is no longer classified as hazardous waste; it does not need to be landfilled.
