The leakage rate of the primary seal gas in the hydrocracking cycle hydrogen compressor (turbine) is high. What are the causes? It is related to hydrogen purity, external temperature, system pressure, and the amount of cycle hydrogen. How can this leakage be reduced?
It’s the dry gas seal system, right? Check whether there is any change in the pressure of the secondary seal gas. If there is no change in the secondary seal gas pressure, it’s possible that the primary seal is damaged. If the pressure of the secondary seal gas increases and the leakage volume grows, it is normal.
It is possible that an increase in seal leakage is to blame, or it could be the purity of the circulating hydrogen affecting things. An increased leakage amount is quite dangerous; adjust the amount of air supplied to the main seal and see if there are any changes, then make a judgment.
It is necessary to improve the liquid removal process in the KO tanks; this issue requires special attention to prevent problems with the circulation pump, which is the heart of the hydrogenation unit.
I encountered this problem here before; the compressor experienced some surging but then returned to normal. I suspect that impurities may have gotten trapped inside the seal
When the manufacturer came for a diagnosis, they said there was no other solution; the machine had to be shut down and disassembled for inspection
