Excuse me, regarding certain atmospheric pressure towers and vessels. There are even some devices that operate under negative pressure. Some engineers set the design pressure at 0.35 MPa when designing. What is this consideration, please? Some people explain it as the pressure of low-pressure steam. Others replied that it was related to the torch pressure. I said I didn’t understand. Can anyone give a reasonable explanation? Waiting online. . .
I’m not sure if what I said makes sense. The experienced worker said that the equipment can withstand absolute pressure, which is equivalent to 3 times the positive pressure.
When determining the design pressure of a pressure vessel, the entire pressure system must be taken into account, rather than focusing only on a single device.
What is a pressure system, the origin of logistics? It’s not 0.35 either.
For towers where the operating pressure at the top is 0.03 MPaG or higher, a safety valve must be installed. The flow from such safety valves usually goes to the flare system; the design pressure for the flare piping network is typically 0.35 MPaG, and the maximum operating pressure in this piping network is also around 0.1 MPaG. Therefore, the design pressure for atmospheric pressure columns is generally set at 0.35 MPaG.
