Can biochemical sludge and sediment be used as seed sludge for UASB?

In one of our biochemical sludge tanks, the sludge has not been processed for over half a year now; the sludge at the bottom has turned black, resembling the granular sludge used in UASB systems. I’m not sure whether it can be used as an inoculum for UASB
It should work; we used aerobic sludge for inoculation during the UASB commissioning. At first, a layer of dead sludge formed, but after about one and a half months it adapted, and currently the COD removal rate is 35–50%.
Our paper mill also uses the excess sludge from the aerobic tank for hydrolysis and acidification.

It should work, just with a bit more amount needed. Aerobic sludge is generally used. This is because the number of microorganisms in the sludge tank is relatively low, and they are also relatively older.
