Dear sea friends, I have a question that requires your help to answer: At present, the heating steam for our company’s boiler deaerator comes from the exhaust gas drawn by the generator. The operating pressure of the deaerator is 0.5 MPag, with a water temperature of 158°C. The heating steam, after being depressurized to 0.6 MPag, has a temperature of 310°C; the amount of steam used is around 24 tons. The company currently has some excess steam (0.7 MPag, 175°C). I would like to reduce the pressure of this steam and mix it with the steam used for heating the deaerator in order to supply it to the deaerator; the required amount is around 5-8 tons. Is this approach feasible? If so, what aspects should be taken into consideration during operation to ensure the stable functioning of the deaerator?
It is feasible to use the excess steam exclusively for the deaerator; it is not recommended to route it along with the heating steam. Due to its low temperature, it is advisable to preheat this excess steam before using it. Otherwise, when it is used in the deaerator, it will not provide any heating effect, and there will also be a large amount of condensed water, which will overload the deaerator
Let’s discuss it together. Isn’t heating water mainly achieved by utilizing the enthalpy of steam? The enthalpy of the excess steam is roughly similar to that of the main steam, and a smaller amount of it is used; basically, around 5 tons are intended to be used. The temperature after mixing also reaches over 280 degrees. Will there be any problems?
