My device was successfully used for driving in 2013, and it has been in use for three years now; Due to the impacts of utility issues (fluctuations in high-pressure steam, gas supply interruptions, and ethylene unit shutdowns), the steam flow rate to the columns in the ethylbenzene unit must be adjusted significantly according to the actual conditions ; During the three years of operation, the ethylbenzene column reboiler in our company leaked twice due to steam erosion: the first time, operations were halted for emergency repairs to the reboiler; the second time, operations were stopped to replace the reboiler ; The benzene tower reboiler leaked twice: the first time during annual maintenance when the reboiler was being serviced, and the second time during a shutdown for emergency repairs to the reboiler ; The cause of the reboiler leaks has, on several occasions, been weld defects in the reboiler resulting from steam erosion, which led to water contamination in the material ; A leak in the ethylbenzene column reboiler will cause the column pressure to remain consistently high, preventing normal operation ; Leaks in the benzene reboiler can lead to an elevated level of water in benzene (the normal level is around 75 ppm, while leaks in the reboiler can result in levels of 200 ppm or even higher). An elevated water content in benzene in the ethylbenzene unit reduces the activity of the alkylation and transalkylation catalysts, thereby affecting the production of ethylbenzene and the conversion rate of polyethylbenzene. I wonder if others in the same industry have encountered similar situations? Any good suggestions? I’m worried the reboiler might leak again.
Why does \"steam scouring cause weld leakage\"? Is there a problem with the quality of the steam, or is it an issue with the equipment itself? If the steam is of poor quality, optimize it by removing water and impurities; if the equipment is not good, just replace it.
An analysis should be conducted to determine whether there is a problem with the equipment or with the quality of the steam. Consider replacing the equipment materials and the eroded parts of the structure, or treating the steam, and make an optimized plan for improvement based on a comprehensive assessment.
