Recently, a project has involved two 50m3 horizontal storage tanks for propylene and butane in the liquid state at room temperature. This requires compliance with the \"Design Code for Tank Areas in Petrochemical Storage and Transportation Systems.\" This standard was designated as a mandatory one in its 1999 version; it was revised for the second time in 2007, and the 2014 version replaced the 2007 one. It is now unclear whether this standard remains mandatory or has been changed to a recommended standard – manufacturing companies and design firms have different opinions on this matter. I would be extremely grateful if someone could provide guidance! ! ! :handshake

This standard is a petrochemical industry recommendation standard; however, the key question is whether your project requires its implementation If project regulations require it to be carried out, then it’s no different from being mandatory. If not, it can be skipped
Thank you for your explanation, senior. We have a dispute regarding the safety valves on the tanks: the designer and manufacturer of the pressure vessel insist on installing only one safety valve in accordance with the relevant regulations, while we, as the users, would like to install an additional safety valve in line with the requirements set out in those standards. The biggest problem is that the tanks have already been processed and delivered to the site. . . The equipment manufacturer does not want to redo the work, which has led to disputes over the applicable standards; negotiations are still underway. . . .
