What is DM an abbreviation for?

Every water usage point on the purification water pipeline in our workshop is marked with DM; I couldn’t find out what this means. Could someone who knows explain it to me? Thank you!
It means deionized water. DM = de-mineral, that is, removing minerals
Thank you! That’s what the designer meant. But from the perspective of process design, this statement is a bit unprofessional. There is no category for deionized water in the classification of process water; at most it is used as an informal term. “\"Removing minerals\" also does not reflect the water.
It can only be said that you don’t have enough knowledge of some terms related to water treatment processes. The original name for deionized water was DM water; DI water came into use later. The essence of removing minerals from water is the ion-exchange process. Technical terms undergo slight changes as people’s understanding advances.
That’s right; on our legend, the abbreviation for deionized water to this day is DMW
DM is not equal to DMW; isn’t it insufficient to just write DM?
