As the title suggests, both orifice plates and rotameters are used in applications with low flow rates and small pipe diameters. Please help compare their advantages and disadvantages in terms of usage, cost, maintenance, and other aspects. Thank you

The built-in orifice plate should offer higher precision than a rotameter; the rotameter has relative precision, and its error is quite large at low flow rates (it seems to have low precision overall). Moreover, the built-in orifice plate requires less maintenance compared to a rotameter. Generally, the built-in orifice plates are directly welded to the process pipelines and cannot be removed, while the rotors are usually connected via flanges. Also, the rotor generally has material entering from below and exiting from above, which requires higher installation requirements compared to built-in orifice plates. Under different parameter requirements, they each have their own advantages in terms of price.
The built-in orifice plate performs excellently at low flow rates, and is primarily designed for small pipes with low flow volumes. I think precision is always relative; high precision can only be achieved by using a mass flow meter
