The Production Department, Quality Department, and Technology Department are the three most important departments in the company. Each department has distinct responsibilities and plays a different role within the company. Of course, sometimes they also argue. But in quality management, these three companions are all essential; none of them can be missing. It’s amusing to see how many brothers with limited experience perceive things: the production department thinks it doesn’t do anything at all, other than just talking ; Conversely, quality personnel often point out chaotic production management, suggesting that such simple tasks cannot be done properly. Those with deeper expertise have different views: some believe that production means carrying out operations 100% in accordance with the standards, without needing to worry about anything else ; Some people believe that quality only needs to be checked in a final inspection, with just Y or N being sufficient ; Many so-called quality strategies these days, such as total quality management and 6sigma, represent a direction or method that is quite far removed from actual practice. Perhaps there is a more straightforward way to describe these three aspects: 1. Production management believes that the production department can be regarded as the artery of an enterprise – it is the department responsible for producing the products that generate profits for the company, and it serves as the center around which all other departments revolve; without product production, everything comes to nothing! It’s conceivable. 2. Quality management holds that quality requirements come first: it is determined what kind of products are needed and what quality standards must be met, based on the demands of the market and consumers as identified by the marketing and quality departments. Subsequently, the technical department formulates the technical specifications required to meet these standards, as well as the materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes to be used. Finally, the production department coordinates the production process. Controlling the entire process is what comprehensive quality management entails; therefore, quality management takes precedence. 3. Technical management believes that customers demand high-quality products, and high-quality products stem from the technical specifications established by the technical department, as well as the choice of materials, production equipment, and manufacturing processes. Therefore, the technical department plays a key role in optimizing production and improving efficiency and product quality. So far, my understanding is that the technical department develops plans for product design and manufacturing processes ; Production management involves planning production based on manufacturing processes and managing the workflow. Quality departments carry out monitoring during product and process development, as well as in manufacturing process management – this is known as process control. Therefore, by identifying the key focus areas for the aforementioned departments, in daily work, the respective departments serve as the main responsible parties, with other departments participating as well. Production planning is carried out; based on the product manufacturing process, the production line is designed and the manufacturing workflow is determined. Process management is carried out by establishing appropriate process control points in accordance with the quality system requirements of various industries, in order to ensure quality control during the manufacturing process. The control points established must ensure the reduction of value-creating processes, while simultaneously maintaining stability in the manufacturing process and ensuring quality control. So, in essence, these three are like three grasshoppers on the same string; moving forward together is the best approach. The work of these three is interconnected and interdependent. After determining the main responsibilities of each department, in practice and by applying project management methods, a project team is established by bringing together personnel from the three departments. For the respective tasks within the project, staff from the appropriate departments are assigned to take charge, which enables better completion of the work related to these three areas and ensures communication between different departments. Avoid jealousy and sabotage – you need capital; otherwise you’ll end up like a clown, dancing on stage until you’re thrown off. Take another look: production management requires 100% compliance with standards. In fact, which company in the world has perfectly met all standards? It’s unlikely that even domestic companies manage to achieve 80% compliance. Even well-known companies cannot draw hasty conclusions regarding their production processes and techniques; there are often many areas that need improvement, which means that production management is generally faced with difficulties. The development and management of a company can never be separated; therefore, production management is always aimed at a process of continuous improvement, rather than adhering to an unchanging 100% standard. Quality management seems to be like being a police officer, but in actual work, if one really acted like a police officer, I think resignation would be imminent, as there is still a lot of work that requires cooperation. The work of these three areas is always intertwined, requiring cooperation among departments; otherwise, no single department can resolve the issues that arise within its own area on its own. In simple terms, the three departments serve one another, check each other, and supervise one another. As long as everyone adopts the right attitude and has a thorough understanding of the importance of cooperation: our department’s role is to support the other two departments; they are our clients. At the same time, it is necessary to enhance communication between departments, analyze tasks related to various situations, determine each department’s responsibilities, and provide support to the other departments ; The focus should be on producing products that satisfy customers for the company’s benefit. Keep in mind that there are also internal customers! The products designed technically must be feasible to produce, and any quality issues must be identified promptly so that production or technical processes can be brought back on track. Production should be carried out in accordance with requirements to ensure quality control, and technical and quality problems should be reported in a timely manner to facilitate overall improvement. While technology and quality support production, production itself must also be carried out in accordance with requirements, with the process kept under control, and information feedback must be provided to technology and quality teams in a timely manner to facilitate improvements. In fact, the basic working relationship among various departments relies on cooperation, communication, and coordination in order to achieve the company’s strategic goals. - End -
Moderator: I have objections. Can the factory operate without the equipment? Is keeping the factory safe fundamental? They, along with production, technology, and quality, are integral parts of the factory and are all essential.
Only when these three brothers work together can the company truly thrive and flourish...
The credit goes to production; when problems arise, it’s the equipment’s fault.
The moderator wrote well! From the production department? Hehe… Safety and equipment departments are shouting out their concerns! In fact, I think all these departments are important. In my opinion, the technical department has the most comprehensive set of requirements and plays a key role; it’s responsible for formulating plans for what needs to be produced. It decides on the processes to be used, the equipment required, the types of instruments needed, as well as the safety and explosion-proof standards to be met (including those related to equipment and SIS systems), along with the analysis methods to be employed It’s just that the products demand technological changes in reverse… In this process, those who do the most will do it best! His department is important… it’s just my personal opinion!
The unchanging principle is that theory and practice must be combined! For example, in design and production…
Since they are all involved in production technology, it’s necessary for them to work together. If you put these people together with party members, union members, etc., it definitely won’t work well
From the perspective of factory operations, every department within a company must carry out its tasks in a way that adds value; otherwise, its existence or role becomes questionable. One of the responsibilities of the quality and technical departments is to oversee the production department while also supporting it. When problems arise during production, they should assist in finding solutions rather than adopting an indifferent attitude. I’ve encountered departments like this: the quality department classifies finished products based on analysis results. When issues arise and efforts are made to discuss solutions with them, they always say that things should be handled according to the standards. If that’s indeed the case, then what’s the need for them at all?
The relationship among the three is discussed very well, with a deep understanding.
The person in charge of production faces the most pressure, because if production succeeds, the boss believes it is the result of the efforts of all employees; if it fails, the boss thinks there is a problem with that person’s capabilities
