Recently, the company installed three new Yantai Binglun compressors, which are used to compress carbon dioxide gas produced by pressure swing adsorption as part of the pressure boosting system. However, after just 2 days of operation, it was found that there was a severe loss of lubricating oil. The manufacturer did not identify any problems. Based on what I’ve heard, I suspect the issue lies with the oil separator, as the gas is quite dirty and its temperature is high, which does not meet the requirements for proper operation. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions or solutions. Thank you all
Is there a coalescer in the oil separator? If not, a coalescer can be added.
Can this filter out water and impurities?
These are all common tactics used by domestic screw compressors; to reduce costs, they employ high-pressure oil removal units. We generally assume that higher pressure is better, but this is a misconception. The higher the pressure, the smaller the volume of the gas; consequently, a smaller oil removal unit is required, which reduces costs. However, a smaller size leads to incomplete oil removal and faster oil consumption. The method is simple: ask the manufacturer to provide you with a low-pressure or a larger model of oil removal unit at no cost. For example, if you need a pressure of 10 kilograms, choose an oil removal unit with a pressure of 5 kilograms, which ensures a high oil recovery rate and reduced consumption
The gas-liquid coalescer only allows gas to pass through, and it works quite well. If there are many impurities, it needs to be replaced regularly.
But there’s another issue: here the required pressure drop is 1 kPa initially, while with this gas-liquid condenser it becomes 20 kPa
