Empty any medium that can be released, make sure to open the valves on the anti-freezing pipelines, and also ensure that any necessary anti-freezing measures, such as steam tracing, are activated.
1. Prevent freezing of pipelines: drain steam pipelines, circulating water pipelines, and process water pipelines as thoroughly as possible. 2. Anti-freezing of equipment: for circulation water pumps, centrifugal pumps, vacuum pumps, compressors, mixers, etc., any equipment that has a cooling water system or contains water within its chambers must have the water drained. 3. Others: traps, glass level gauges, water supply pipes, distributors, flow meters, and so on.

It depends on whether the entire factory is shut down I have never seen the entire plant shut down during winter; only individual units are stopped. For those where the medium might freeze, it is drained, while in other cases where this is not possible, certain systems can still operate in a partial circulation mode. Additionally, heating must be maintained in the relevant areas, and some parts need to have continuous water flow, etc.
If the medium is completely drained, purging is required; it’s not possible to remove all the residue. The flanges that need to be disconnected must be done so, and the drain valves must be opened. Remove the drain plug of the pump to allow drainage; be careful with cylinders that have water jackets, as sediment can prevent proper drainage of water. It was precisely because of this that the cylinder cracked from freezing!
After the liquid phase in the pipeline is drained, compressed air should be used for purging to prevent liquid from remaining and causing expansion due to freezing, which could lead to pipeline rupture
