In actual production, if naphtha leaks due to pump damage after it becomes evacuated, will a fire occur?
Naphtha has a low ignition point, but its auto-ignition point is not low; in the absence of an open flame, it simply vaporizes
It depends on how high the temperature is – whether it exceeds the ignition point
Accidents that have occurred: Damage to the pump after it was emptied led to a leak of naphtha. Although the amount leaked was small, it caused oil to end up in the cooling water trenches. When the operator took samples of the oil slurry, an excessive opening of the valve resulted in splashing, smoking, and spontaneous ignition, which triggered a fire in the naphtha in those trenches. This led to a fire outbreak throughout the trench area of the pump room, as well as flash explosions in the sewer wells. A painful lesson: it’s all about luck – any accident results from many instances of 60% competence; 60%*60%*60% = ??? Once you do the math, it becomes clear. . .
