Run away? It is the relative sliding between the inner ring or outer ring and the mating surface
Inner ring wear: This occurs when the inner ring of the bearing slides against the shaft mounted within it. Normally, there is an interference fit between the inner ring and the shaft; when inner ring wear takes place, it means that a clearance fit has developed between them. The shaft can no longer hold the inner ring of the bearing in place. Running on the outer circle: This occurs when there is a clearance fit between the outer ring of the bearing and the bearing housing, resulting in sliding between the outer ring and the bearing housing.

The clearance has changed, or the difference in expansion coefficients due to temperature changes causes the clearance to increase, which in turn leads to the bearing slipping.
