I recently learned that by changing the position of the boiler feed water, cracks at the heat exchange tube sheet of the boiler can be avoided. Could someone explain why this is the case?
The main purpose is to increase heat removal at the tube sheet, thereby preventing nucleate boiling corrosion at that location, as well as avoiding cracks caused by high thermal stresses in the tube joint welds due to insufficient heat removal； Furthermore, an excessive heat load at the tube sheet generates steam, causing vibration of the tube bundle and also leading to cracks in the tube joints.
