The advantage of having a soft connection at the upper part of the precipitator prone to coking is that it prevents the catalyst from being carried into the distillation column when there are fluctuations in the level of material in the stripping section

I’m not sure about this; it seems like there’s a problem with the centrifugation.
In the first stage, there are rough spin and single spin soft connections; the gas and oil from the stripping section enter the single spin unit after passing through the rough spin unit. There is also a VQS version with a hard-connected single spin.

In the direct-connected type, there is a balance tube; the oil and gas outside the shell enter the rising pipe through this balance tube, undergo centrifugal separation, and then proceed to the gas collection chamber.
