The 30,000 capacity cryogenic air separation unit put into operation in 2007 used steam heaters for the regeneration heating of molecular sieves; the initial heaters were energy-saving types with carbon steel heat exchange cores, and leaks occurred in 2012. In 2013, the direct-discharge type stainless steel heat exchange core was replaced. During installation, the core fell to the ground, causing slight leakage; repairs were carried out in 2013 and 2015, but neither attempt was successful.
I plan to replace the core again during the major maintenance next year; those who can manufacture cores can contact me.
The core can maintain pressure at room temperature without issues, but leakage occurs as soon as steam is applied after it is properly installed. Does anyone have any good methods for checking? Is it necessary to maintain pressure at high temperatures?
